CSR for Mount Agung Volcanic Eruption Refugees

In the employee outing event of PT Pelita Samudera Shipping Tbk (PT PSS Tbk) in Bali which was conducted on 08 – 10 December 2017, PT PSS Tbk Management organized corporate social responsibility activity by visiting and cash donating to the refugees of mount Agung volcanic eruption. The donation activity theme “We care” has previously collected contribution voluntarily from internal employees, donation from the Company and PT Pelita Samudera Shipping Tbk’s network.

The management who represented the activity were Mr. Berty Ekel – Commissioner, Mr. Harry Tjhen – Director of Operation and Commercial, Mrs. Imelda Kiagoes – Corporate Secretary, Mrs. Maria Brigita Winardi – Senior Manager of Finance, Mr. Hon Kiong – Head of Procurement and Mrs. Desi Safitri – Corporate Communication. The representatives handed over the cash donation amount of Rp 50.000.000,- (fifty million rupiahs), was received by Mr. Suade, Coordinator of BPBD (Regional Disaster Management) and Mr. Nengah Darmawan as the General Coordinator of refugees post.

In addition to providing assistance, management had interactive session with refugees, they have been in the communal hall for the past 3 months. Meanwhile, according to Nengah Darmawan, the availability of logistics, especially rice, the daily consumption needs around 2 tons for Klungkung, the area only within 2 – 3 kilometer from mount Agung, although the availability of rice stock as of December 10, 2017 remains 6 tons, “At this time the refugee situation is hit by high stress level, if there are donors who want to donate, we hope besides the needs of coffee, tea, rice and milk for children, can contribute entertainment to reduce stress “said Nengah Darmawan. The number of refugees in Klungkung Regency is approximately 10.657 people as per December 10, 2017 spread in 45 refugee posts. Management had the opportunity to visit the logistics supplies from tents which was built by local social department. A public kitchen tent was set up to accommodate volunteers while cooking for the daily needs of refugees.
The donation is still open and will gradually be distributed to the refugees, hope all the donation can meet refugee’s needs.
